Spreading Awareness, Inspiring Change: Dementia Awareness Program at IINR
Understanding Dementia: A Step Toward Compassionate Healthcare
The International Institute of Nursing & Research (IINR) took a meaningful step toward community health education by hosting a Dementia Awareness Program in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), Calcutta Chapter).
The event aimed to raise awareness about Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, highlighting the importance of early detection, empathetic care, and community support for individuals and families affected by these conditions.

The program began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, graced by honourable guests and dignitaries, symbolising the light of knowledge and compassion. Faculty members and students actively participated, engaging in informative sessions and discussions that deepened their understanding of cognitive health and patient-centred care.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Compassionate Caregivers
Through expert talks and interactive sessions, participants learned about the challenges faced by dementia patients and the critical role of nurses in providing emotional and medical support. The event encouraged students to develop empathy and awareness—essential traits for every healthcare professional.
The collaboration with ARDSI, Calcutta Chapter, strengthened IINR’s ongoing mission to combine academic excellence with social responsibility and holistic healthcare education. By addressing real-world health challenges, IINR continues to inspire its students to become not just skilled professionals but also compassionate changemakers in society.
