Strengthening Global Ties in Nursing Education

On 18th August 2025, the International Institute of Nursing and Research (IINR) witnessed a historic day with the program “Strengthening Global Ties in Nursing Education”, held in collaboration with Future Nurses, Germany.

The program began on a warm and vibrant note as students welcomed the dignitaries with bouquets and greetings. The air was filled with excitement and pride when one of our student representatives greeted our guests with, “Guten Tag und herzlich willkommen!” (Good day and a warm welcome in German). This small gesture beautifully reflected the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange that the day symbolised.

Ms. Medhawi Verma, Managing Director of IINR, introduced the event and highlighted how this collaboration will open doors to global opportunities for our students. The audience was then inspired by Prof. Dirk U. Naumann, Managing Director of Future Nurses, Germany, who shared his vision of creating international platforms for nursing education. His words motivated everyone to dream beyond boundaries and reminded us that nursing is not just a profession, but a mission that unites humanity.

The interactive session with students was one of the highlights of the day. Students eagerly raised questions, not only about academics but also about cultural experiences and the future of healthcare. It was clear that the thought of visiting Germany, learning new practices, and experiencing a different healthcare system filled many with excitement.

The faculty interaction further enriched the program, as professors from both sides exchanged perspectives, experiences, and ideas for collaboration. This was followed by a conference room discussion with the Board of Trustees—Dr. Sila Singh Ghosh, Dr Sourajit Ghosh, and Ms Medhawi Verma—who deliberated on concrete steps for future partnerships.

What made the day truly special was the student sentiment woven throughout the event. One of our peers beautifully reminded us of Florence Nightingale’s words: “Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses… we must be learning all of our lives.” This collaboration is exactly that—a reminder that learning has no borders and that, as nurses, we must grow endlessly.

The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks and a cheerful group photograph, capturing not just smiling faces but also the beginning of a journey filled with hope, learning, and international friendship.

As students, we walked away not just with knowledge, but with a promise to ourselves:

  • To learn with humility,
  • Work with dedication,
  • Share knowledge with peers, and
  • Bring pride to IINR and to India.

The words of Mother Teresa echoed in our hearts: “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

Indeed, this collaboration marks the start of doing small things with great love—together, across nations, for the future of healthcare.
