Environmental Health & Hygiene Group Project at Kalyani Simanta: Nursing Students Promote Community Wellness

The students of GNM 3rd Year (Group A) from the International Institute of Nursing and Research (IINR) successfully conducted an Environmental Health & Hygiene Group Project at Picnic Garden, Kalyani Simanta. The initiative aimed to create awareness about cleanliness, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and healthy living practices among community members.

The program was designed as a community outreach activity where nursing students actively interacted with local residents, including children, adolescents, and adults. Through educational sessions, demonstrations, posters, and group discussions, the students highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean environment and adopting healthy hygiene habits in daily life. Community-based nursing projects like these play a vital role in promoting preventive healthcare and improving public awareness regarding sanitation and disease prevention.

During the event, students used visual aids and informative charts to explain topics such as proper handwashing techniques, waste disposal methods, environmental cleanliness, and the prevention of communicable diseases. The interactive approach encouraged active participation from the community, making the learning experience both engaging and impactful. Similar community health awareness programs conducted by nursing institutions have been shown to strengthen public understanding of hygiene and environmental health practices.

The project also provided nursing students with valuable practical exposure in community health nursing. By engaging directly with the public, students enhanced their communication, leadership, teamwork, and health education skills while contributing positively to society. Such field-based experiences help future healthcare professionals understand community needs and develop effective health promotion strategies.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to maintain cleanliness and promote healthy habits within the community. The enthusiastic participation of residents and students reflected a shared commitment to building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

Through this meaningful initiative, IINR once again demonstrated its dedication to community service, health promotion, and the holistic development of future nursing professionals. The Environmental Health & Hygiene Group Project served as an excellent example of how education and community engagement can work together to create positive social change.
